Harry Styles ‘gutted’ to miss London premiere of My Policeman due to tour clash

Harry Styles will miss the European premiere of his new film My Policeman in London due to a tour clash.

The Grammy winner is said to be “gutted” that he won’t be able to join his co-stars Emma Corrin, 26, and David Dawson, 40, next week at the BFI London Film Festival due to pre-planned gigs in Chicago.

A source said: “He’s gutted – but he doesn’t want to let down his fans in Chicago.

“Starring in My Policeman means the world to Harry and attending the London film premiere would have been very special.

“Music will always be his priority though and he's committed to fulfilling every one of his Love On Tour dates,” the insider told MailOnline.

Although fans were hoping to catch a glimpse of the 28-year-old at the London Film Festival next Saturday, October 15, he was never confirmed to attend.

In fact, Styles is performing gigs at Chicago’s United Center from Saturday, October 8 all the way through to the following Saturday, the same day of the premiere.

The Watermelon High hitmaker was due to start his week-long residency on Thursday, October 6 but due to crew and band member illness, it was rescheduled for Monday, October 10.

Based on the novel by Bethan Roberts, My Policeman is set in Brighton during the 50s and follows the love triangle of Tom, Marion, and Patrick.

Styles attended the film’s global premiere at the Toronto International Film Festival in September, but notably had to rush off mid-standing ovation to catch a flight as he’s currently in the middle of his American tour.

The former One Direction star has received mixed reviews for his portrayal as policeman Tom in the flick, with some critics branding him “awkward” and “tepid”.

Styles missing the premiere comes amid reports he and girlfriend Olivia Wilde are “set to live together in the UK”.

The Don’t Worry Darling director is believed to have visited a school in North London, suggesting she is looking for somewhere to enrol her children, Otis and Daisy, with ex fiancé Jason Sudeikis, who is currently based in New York.

A source told The Sun: “Harry and Olivia are completely committed to each other and want to spend as much time together as possible.

“But the kids are always her first priority, so basing them in the UK is a viable option for their future, given she sees that with Harry, who wants to stay in London.

“She has spoken to Jason about it because his say is important too as the kids’s dad. It sounds like they have agreed London is the best place. Nothing has been signed and sealed yet but they are strongly considering the move.”

The Evening Standard has contacted Harry Styles and Olivia Wilde’s reps for comment.
