Harry Maguire and Bruno Fernandes send message to Manchester United new boy Christian Eriksen

Club captain Harry Maguire and Bruno Fernandes have led the warm welcomes from the Manchester United squad following Christian Eriksen’s arrival.

The 30-year-old has signed a deal that keeps him at Old Trafford until 2025 and becomes Erik ten Hag’s second signing of the summer. The announcement of Eriksen's arrival came just hours after the club’s 4-1 pre-season friendly win over Melbourne Victory in Australia.

Eriksen arrives as a free agent after his contract at Brentford - where he scored once and grabbed four assists in 11 outings - expired. Speaking for the first time as a United player, he said: “ Manchester United is a special club, and I cannot wait to get started.

“I have had the privilege of playing at Old Trafford many times but to do it in the red shirt of United will be an amazing feeling. I have seen Erik’s work at Ajax and know the level of detail and preparation that he and his staff put into every day.

“It is clear that he is a fantastic coach. I still have major ambitions in the game, there is a huge amount that I know I can achieve, and this is the perfect place to continue my journey.”

Maguire was one of the first players to send Eriksen a warm welcome. Reacting on his Instagram story, he wrote: “Welcome on board @chriseriksen8.”

Bruno Fernandes also offered his greetings, writing on social media: “Welcome @chriseriksen8.” David de Gea - who missed the Melbourne win due to a slight knock - added on Twitter: “Welcome.”

All three will be hoping Eriksen can play a crucial role for United next season as the Ten Hag rebuild begins.
