Harry Kenny resigns as St. Patrick's Athletic manager

Harry Kenny has resigned as St. Patrick's Athletic manager by mutual consent in the wake of their 3-1 defeat to UCD in the FAI Cup last night.

The Saints were left shell-shocked last night as the Premier Division strugglers hit three past them in an impressive comeback as they marched into the FAI Cup quarter-finals.

They found themselves two down at the break thanks to goals from Liam Kerrigan and Yousef Mahdy before Kerrigan struck again to make it three. Conor Clifford found the net late on, but it proved a mere consolation.

Kenny had kept the side in contention for European places heading into the latter stages of the season, but after heavy investment this season not translating in results - he has left his role.

In a statement, the club said: "Club chairman Garrett Kelleher would like to thank Harry for his professionalism over the last year and in his earlier role as assistant manager.

Harry would like to thank all involved with St Pats for the support given to him and wishes the club the best of luck in the future."
