England captain Harry Kane has spoken about his future heading into the World Cup with both Manchester City and Manchester United reportedly showing interest in a potential transfer.
After a slow start to the season, the Tottenham striker has scored 22 goals in all competitions. He’s also netted a further ten for England, including seven in two games against Albania and San Marino in November’s World Cup qualifiers as Gareth Southgate’s men qualified for the upcoming World Cup.
Kane is currently away with the Three Lions ahead of their friendlies against Switzerland and the Ivory Coast in the next seven days, and has spoken out about his long-term goals going into Qatar 2022. When asked if he needs to secure his future at club level this summer, the 28-year-old responded (via journalist Dan Kilpatrick on Twitter): "My main focus is finishing this season.

“I can’t control what’s going to happen in the future. I want to be going into that tournament in the best form possible." Pep Guardiola admitted last month that he approached Tottenham four times regarding the acquisition of Kane last year before the striker publicised that he was staying at Spurs.
One criticism levelled at City this season has been over the absence of a world-class centre forward in their squad. The club have been strongly linked with a mega-money move for Erling Haaland but initial reports suggested Guardiola was prioritising Kane .
But now, Manchester Evening News understands that City are in pole position to land Haaland. In February, it was mooted that United reportedly also threw their hat into the mix for Kane - and a possible reunion with Mauricio Pochettino - and would table an offer if City ended up recruiting the Borussia Dortmund striker.
There were concerns that Cristiano Ronaldo may have made an early exit from his two-year Old Trafford deal with the club unlikely to earn a Champions League spot this season. However, it seems these worries have now been quashed with the Portugal captain rumoured to have committed to seeing out his contract .
