Tottenham striker Harry Kane has said that he could leave the club should he not see the team progressing.
The forward has been one of Spurs’ most important players in recent years, scoring 136 goals in 201 Premier League appearances since breaking into the first team.
His goalscoring record has led to speculation that his future could lie away from the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium with Manchester United the latest team to be linked with a move for the England captain.
Ahead of the summer transfer window, Kane was taking part in a question and answer session with Sky Sports pundit Jamie Redknapp on his Instagram page.
When asked about his future, the striker gave an answer that could worry Spurs fans.
“I get asked this question a lot, it’s one of them things, I couldn’t say yes, I couldn’t say no,” he said.
“I love Spurs, I’ll always love Spurs, but it’s one of them things I’ve always said if I don’t feel like we’re progressing as a team or going in the right direction, I’m not someone to stay there just for the sake of it.
“I’m an ambitious player. I want to become a top top player, so it all depends on what happens as a team and how we progress as a team.
“So, it’s not a definite I’m going to stay there forever but it’s not a no either.”
Kane has been out of action since the start of the year after undergoing surgery on a hamstring injury.
He is likely to be available whenever the Premier League returns after the coronavirus suspension, when he will be hoping to add to his 17 goals in all competitions so far this season.
