England captain Harry Kane can make it a perfect hat-trick against Newcastle United next weekend. The Spurs striker has a solid - but not spectacular - record immediately after the international break.
Kane has played 24 games for Tottenham after returning from Three Lions duty, scoring in nine of those games while bagging 13 goals in total. It took him four attempts to get off the mark when he bagged a brace against bitter rivals West Ham in November 2015.
However, bad news for Newcastle fans is that the 28-year-old has faced the Magpies twice after returning from the England set-up - and he bagged on both occasions. Coincidentally, Kane capitalised on the Three Lions’ victories against Poland and Albania last year by netting a brace at St James’ Park on April 2, almost a year apart from next weekend’s fixture.
A 2-2 draw behind closed doors saw Joe Willock snatch a late equaliser for Steve Bruce’s side that lifted Newcastle three points clear of the drop zone. Then, six months later, Kane scored his first Premier League goal of the season to spoil the Magpies’ post-takeover party just days after England hosted Hungary at Wembley.
Kane faces Newcastle for the third successive time after returning from international duty looking to extend his recent purple patch. Overall, the striker has scored seven goals in 14 games against the Magpies in all competitions throughout his career.
