Prince Harry and wife Meghan Markle are considering renting their second US home in New York, according to reports.

The Duke and Duchess of Sussex are said to have been looking at an apartment near the United Nations headquarters in Manhattan.

Harry and Meghan currently live in an £11.2million mansion in California which they bought with a £7.3m mortgage.

The 7.4-acre compound is in the celebrity enclave of Montecito.

MailOnline said gossip in New York suggests the Sussexes are now looking at also becoming tenants close to diplomats in Midtown East.

Last September, the couple were photographed meeting with Deputy Secretary-General Amina Mohammed in a rare public appearance.

The trio spoke about issues ranging from climate action to women’s economic empowerment.

Harry, 37, and Meghan, 40, were in New York at the time to attend Global Citizen Live, a concert at Central Park calling on world leaders to adopt a vaccine equity policy.

Ms Mohammed, the former environment minister for Nigeria, said: “In conversation with the Duke and Duchess of Sussex.

“Sharing how to engage on issues we care about deeply: climate action, women’s economic empowerment, mental wellbeing, youth engagement and vaccine equity.”

They also spent time with Linda Thomas-Greenfield who is the United States ambassador to the UN under President Joe Biden during the same trip.

It marked their first public appearance together since the birth of their second child Lilibet in June 2021.

They moved across the pond to the US in July 2020, four months after stepping down as senior royals and leaving Britain.

Last month, the duchess released a trailer for her new Spotify podcast which is part of the global music giant’s estimated £18m deal with Meghan and Harry.

Their production company Archewell Audio has not yet released a date for episode one but it is expected to air in the summer.

A spokesman for Archewell was approached for comment.
