Harrogate Town 'shouldn't have lost' against Bolton Wanderers and conceded 'poor' goals

Harrogate Town conceded two 'poor' goals against Bolton Wanderers and should not have lost against the Whites according to Simon Weaver but 'defensive blips' cost them .

In a first half where the visitors were the better side, Gethin Jones put through his own net from close range as the Yorkshire hosts deservedly led at the break.

But Wanderers came out of the traps after half-time and claimed an equaliser through Lloyd Isgrove.

And Trotters top scorer Eoin Doyle capitalised on a mistake at the back from the Sulphurites to finish emphatically for what proved to be the three points.

The Yorkshire side are now without a win in their last six matches.

Harrogate boss Weaver believes defensive errors cost his side in a match they should not have lost in his view, and that his side outplayed Bolton for 45 minutes.

Weaver said: “It was a really disappointing end to the game.

“We played some fantastic football in the first half and got the first goal for the first time in a while.

“It’s a great pitch and enabled us to play the brand of football we wanted which we did for 45 minutes.

“Looking ahead to next season we need to be able to sustain that.

“We outplayed Bolton and caused them all sorts of trouble. The game plan was really working but we couldn’t sustain it.

“In the second half we wanted to keep up the intensity but we were lacking. And defensively, errors cost us the game.

“We have got defensive blips in us and it is a recurring theme. We manage to lose a game, we really shouldn’t be losing. We weren’t dominated by any stretch but managed to concede two poor goals.”
