Harrison Ford injured on Indiana Jones set as filming continues on new movie

Harrison Ford has been forced to take a break from filming the new Indiana Jones movie after being injured on set.

It's being reported that the 78-year-old Hollywood star suffered a shoulder injury while rehearsing.

Production company Disney haven't yet divulged the extent of Harrison's injury, but a source said the filming schedule for Indiana Jones would be altered accordingly over "the coming weeks."

Strictly confirm Anton Du Bake as full time judge for 2021

A Disney statement said: "In the course of rehearsing for a fight scene, Harrison Ford sustained an injury involving his shoulder.

"Production will continue while the appropriate course of treatment is evaluated, and the filming schedule will be reconfigured as needed in the coming weeks."

Harrison's injury, which comes seven years after he was left with a broken leg after an accident on the Star Wars set, was a topic of conversation on Thursday's Lorraine when showbiz reporter Ross King joked: "As you know Harrison Ford is 117 now and they're filming Indiana Jones part 83," before explaining: "He's had a bit of an injury.

"They were rehearsing one of the fight scenes and he's got a little bit of an injury, he's hurt his shoulder.

"I think the good news is though that's going to take a little bit of a break but the filming is going to continue."

Harrison's injury comes weeks after he attracted a massive amount of attention when Indiana Jones filming came to the North East.

While production was centered on Bamburgh Castle, with the landmark the location for a number of explosive scenes, it was Harrison's trips elsewhere that caused great excitement.

He enjoyed food at The Ship's Cast in North Shields before being spotted cycling along the River Tyne.

The following day he enjoyed a brief visit to Quayside haunt Aveika before having a meal at nearby Khai Khai.

Harrison left the region via helicopter after telling over zealous fans to keep their distance as he headed back to the Malmaison Hotel where he was staying.

After the cast and crew left the North East, filming on Indiana Jones has switched to London and the iconic Pinewood Studios.
