A pedestrian, who was knocked down and killed in a suspected hit-and-run crash in east London, has been named as Mark Joseph Henry.
The 58-year-old was pronounced dead at the scene on Petersfield Avenue at the junction with St Neots Road in Romford on Saturday.
Officers were called at around 12.10am to reports of a collision between a car and two pedestrians in Harold Hill, Romford.
Paramedics battled to save Mr Henry, who was from Romford, but he died at the scene. His next of kin have been informed.
A second pedestrian, also 58, was taken by London Ambulance Service to hospital with injuries not believed to be life-threatening

At short time later, he was arrested on suspicion of causing death by dangerous driving and failing to stop at the scene of an accident.
He was taken to an east London police station and has since been released under investigation.
A spokesperson speaking on behalf of Mr Henry’s family said: “Mark will be greatly missed and was much loved by his sister, two brothers and his extended family and was taken too soon in this road traffic collision.“
Detectives from the Roads and Transport Policing Command would like to speak with anyone who witnessed the collision or saw the car leaving the scene.
Anyone who was driving in the area with dash cam footage is asked to come forward.
