The sparkling Italian ensemble La Risonanza has already recorded a fine disc of Handel duets, and here they continue the series and add a couple of delectable trios as well. You can expect these days to hear sopranos of impeccable virtuosity such as Roberta Invernizzi and Silvia Frigato, though they blend and balance with exceptional skill. Rather more surprising is the equally effortless clarity and brilliance of Thomas Bauer’s baritone, matching every roulade with easy grace. This is an enlivening disc with some moving slower numbers, but a couple of instrumental interludes from the accomplished continuo group would not have come amiss among the swirling vocal sequences.
