Hamilton Accies have been dealt a huge blow with the news midfield duo David Templeton and Kyle Munro will be sidelined until the new year.
The wingers missed Accies' 4-2 defeat Pittodrie on Tuesday night and the extent of their absence has been revealed, with boss Brian Rice confirming a serious groin injury for ex-Rangers star Templeton in the 5-3 defeat to St Johnstone on October 17 will rule him out for three months or more.
Munro fractured his wrist in the same game and will not feature for Accies until January at the earliest.
Boss Brian Rice said:"David Templeton and Kyle Munro will probably miss at least three months each, David probably a wee bit more.
"It's a huge blow, I'm not going to lie.
"David is a special talent and young Kyle, it's his first full season with us, so it's a blow for the lads as well.
"Unfortunately, the results of the scan have come back and it's just one of these things."
However, Rice hopes his young squad can rise to the challenge and fill the void left by two key players, as Hamilton head to St Mirren on Saturday looking to move off the foot of the Premiership.
Rice added: "When something happens to one player the opportunity arises for someone else to step up to the plate.
"Young Ronan Hughes came off the bench last week and replaced David and got himself a couple of goals and 75/80 minutes on Tuesday night as well, so the opportunity is there for someone to grasp it."
