Hamilton boss Brian Rice says 'We'll play worse and win' after Hibs hammering

Hamilton boss Brian Rice claims his side will play worse than they did against Hibs and win games this season.

Accies were flattened 4-0 by Hibs at New Douglas Park, with goals from Christian Doidge, Paul McGinn and Kevin Nisbet adding to Martin Boyle's 10th-minute penalty opener.

Rice bristled at the idea that his side didn't have a foothold in the game, and said he was happy with the performance, if not the result.

He said: "It was a crazy penalty to give away and then I thought we had a good foothold in the game, but then they got the second goal - which was poor defending, I thought

"The second half we started really well, we caused them a couple of problems, got balls in, but the difference is when they do that they are putting them into the net, and we are not.

"Their third was a really good finish, and then it is just a case of trying to get out of it."

Rice added: "We were playing a really good team today. I think they are the third-best team in Scotland at the minute and, like I say, at 1-0 we had a good foothold in the game.

"There weren't too many chances at that point.

"I said to the boys in the dressing room that we will play worse than that and win games.

"I am really disappointed with the result, but I am not too disappointed with the performance."

Rice said Accies were missing a host of first-team players from their squad, but those who have stepped in have given everything for the cause.

"I am missing six starters," he said. "Nobody can argue with that, for a club our size, six first-team starters is massive. Absolutely massive.

"But the boys in there are giving it their all and that is all we can ask for.

"They have been giving it their all for the last few weeks."
