Hamilton boss Brian Rice hits back at critics who 'hide behind keyboards' after Ayr win

Hamilton boss Brian Rice has told critics who "hide behind keyboards" to say it to his face after victory over Ayr.

Following the midweek humbling by Annan, Accies bounced back with a 2-1 win thanks to goals from Marios Ogkmpoe and Charlie Trafford in the Betfred Cup.

After a furious fan reaction online to the Galabank defeat, Rice was delighted to get their first points on the board in Group H.

The New Douglas Park gaffer added that he would much rather talk it out with supporters rather than be told about a social media storm.

After the final whistle, he said: “It’s really important that we won today. That was the objective and we’ve done it.

“It’s our first home league win, so that’s got that monkey off our back, and our striker has scored so it’s been a good day.

“We can’t do anything about history, and today is history now as well. Tomorrow morning it’s gone and people will keep bringing it up [the Annan defeat] but it’s gone as well.

“It’s our job to keep bouncing back and we did that today.

“We made a mistake and they scored from it, and we had a couple of chances at the other end, but the most important thing was that we bounced back today and keep ourselves in the competition.

“We had a really poor result in midweek, we took criticism and I took criticism, but we can’t get criticised too much today.”

On the social media reaction, he said: “I don’t go on line, people tell me what is said online, if you have something to say come say it to me and knock on my door, say it to my face.

“I don’t go online and speak to people who hide behind keyboards.

“Be man enough to come and chap my door and say by the way I don’t like this, and that’s fair enough. Don’t hide behind a keyboard.”
