Hamilton Accies spread some Christmas cheer to care homes in the town

Hamilton Accies Football Club spread some much-needed festive cheer across the community last week.

For the club’s community director, and Lanarkshire’s deputy Lord Lieutenant, John Brown, donned his Santa suit and paraded along to two Hamilton care homes.

Santa, along with his elf, played by John’s wife Anita, popped along to Douglas View Care Home followed by Abbeyvale Court Care Home where they kindly delivered selection packs to every resident.

The residents were then entertained from their windows by the fabulous dancers from Annella Dance School including Holly Gregory, Alanis Reardon, Stephanie Foster and Bonnie-Bleu Morton.

Singer Leonna Marie Skimming then performed some Christmas favourites to the crowds behind the glass.

Accies chief executive Colin McGowan said: “It was important for us, in particular this year after the awful last 10 months that we have all endured, to help spread some Christmas cheer within our community.

“Thanks to John and Anita Brown, the girls from Annella Dance School and to Leonna for her fab singing.

“I think everyone involved had a ball and there was a lot of smiles on the faces of residents within the care homes.”
