Halifax branch in Greater Manchester closes after member of staff tests positive for Covid-19

A Halifax bank branch has closed temporarily after a member of staff tested positive for coronavirus.

The branch, at The Rock in Bury town centre, closed today (Friday, September 4) ahead of a deep-clean.

A company spokesman said there was no set date for a reopening.

"We have temporarily closed the Halifax Bury branch to allow for the building to be cleaned, after a colleague was diagnosed with Covid-19," a Halifax spokesman said.

"Our priority is the wellbeing of our colleagues and customers. We will continue to follow Government guidance, and have taken the precautionary steps to advise some colleagues to self-isolate.

"We will re-open the branch at the appropriate time.”

As of Thursday (September 3), the infection rate in Bury was 27.2 cases per 100,000 people.

It means that the borough is in the amber alert zone, along with Salford, Trafford, Tameside, Manchester, and Rochdale.

Bolton and Oldham are both in the red zone, while Stockport and Wigan both have relatively low infection rates and remain in green.
