Hairy Bikers to return to BBC with new show in January to match top restaurants with local suppliers

The Hairy Bikers will make a return to our TV screens in January next year with a new series.

The Hairy Bikers Go Local will see the much-loved duo of Si King and Dave Myers visiting some of the top restaurants in the UK and introducing them to local suppliers. They spoke of the new programme on Dave Myers' return to live TV on Saturday Kitchen Live following chemotherapy treatment - where he declared he was "over the moon" to be back.

It follows on from their 2021 series, The Hairy Bikers Go North. The eight-episode series saw Si and Dave showcase some of the best food and restaurants in Northumberland and Newcastle, as well as a Christmas special where they made the "best ever Northern Christmas dinner."

As they were making a coffee and hazelnut cake, they spoke to host Matt Tebbutt not only about their latest TV venture, but their agony uncles podcast which they started in February of this year. On the subject of the Hairy Bikers Go Local, Si King said: "We've gone local but actually it wasn't that local because it was all over the country."

Dave added: "We took a chance and reckon there are a lot of Michelin Star chefs, proper chefs like Ollie [Dabbous, who was also on Saturday Kitchen] who live in the locale but don't really know what's available to them.

"So, we set ourselves a mission to show the chefs local suppliers and we cook with their food. And actually, I thought at first this isn't going to work because any chef worth his salt will know what's going on... They didn't!"

The Hairy Bikers Go Local airs on Tuesday January 3 on BBC Two. It is not yet known if any of the episodes will take place in the North East.
