A hairdresser is warning people that an extremely common hairstyle could seriously damage hair, even leading to it falling out.
TikTok user Rachel Valentine often shares hair tips and tricks with her followers, and one video has now amassed more than 50,000 likes and thousands of comments.
While many of us are guilty of "throwing our hair up" in a messy bun to get it out of our faces, Rachel has warned it is "probably the most damaging way you can wear your hair".

She explained: "Some of us do this every single day but it's so damaging in so many ways. Firstly, it is super tight so the tension is going to be [either side of your forehead]. If you get traction alopecia like me, this is a no go.
"Secondly, our poor ends, especially if your hair is bleached, are going to be so prone to breaking in a style like this. They're all caught up, they're intertwined, and when you take it out it's probably gonna be super knotty.
"Thirdly, a lot of people do this when their hair is wet, which is even worse. Our hair is fragile when it's wet, it's going to cause so much damage".
Many TikTok users commented to say they had the exact hairstyle she was warning about while watching the video. Emmy Atkinson said: "Me watching this rn with my hair in that exact style" [sic], to which Rachel replied: "I hope you took it out".
Lisa McGarry said: "Watching with my hair just like that... and it's wet". Katie said: "The hairstyle of a nurse", while Lalalala said: "Me every day for a billion years and wondering why my hair is thinning and damaged".
