Haghill street cordoned off by police after man is seriously assaulted

A busy street in Glasgow has been cordoned off by police after a man was seriously assaulted.

Cumbernauld Road, near Alexandra Park, was taped off around 1.15pm on Friday afternoon following the attack on a 22-year-old man.

Eyewitnesses reported seeing 'a man covered in blood' and dozens of police at the scene.

A 45-year-old man has been arrested in connection with the incident.

A spokesperson for Police Scotland said: "Around 1.15pm on Friday, July 24, we received reports of a serious assault on Cumbernauld Road in Glasgow.

“A 22-year-old man sustained serious injury and has been taken to Glasgow Royal Infirmary.

“Officers have arrested a 45-year-old man in connection with the incident. Enquiries are ongoing."
