A woman was left with a bill for a new rear windscreen after she claims a man on an e-scooter smashed into the back of her parked car.

Ms Atkins, who lives on Cromwell Road, said: "I heard a bang in the night but was not sure what it was. In the morning I went out and my rear windscreen had been smashed. There was glass on the floor and a man's slider shoe. He crashed his e-scooter into the back of my car and then made off."

Ms Atkins reported the incident to the police. She said: "Because I am local I found out the name of the man responsible, but he is not insured for the e-scooter I have to pay all the costs. There is the money for a new windscreen and the time involved in sorting all of this out."
A spokesperson for Cheshire Police confirmed they received a report of criminal damage at around 8.30am on May 20. The spokesperson said: "There was damage caused to the bumper and the back window.
