Gwyneth Paltrow’s vagina-scented candle 'explodes and almost burns women's home down'

One of Gwyneth Paltrow's brand Goop's infamous vagina-scented candles nearly burnt down a women's home, a woman has claimed.

Jody Thompson, 50, was left worried and scared when she lit the candle - that she won in an online quiz - in the living room of her London property.

She couldn't believe her eyes when the object "emitted huge flames" and caused an "inferno in the room."

Jody told The Sun : “The candle exploded and emitted huge flames, with bits flying everywhere.

"I’ve never seen anything like it. The whole thing was ablaze and it was too hot to touch. There was an inferno in the room.”

She added: “We eventually got it under control and threw it out the front door.

“It could have burned the place down. It was scary at the time, but funny looking back that Gwyneth’s vagina candle exploded in my living room.”

In January 2020, Gwyneth hit headlines when her lifestyle company Goop revealed it was selling the £57 candle named 'This Smells Like My Vagina.'

The candle is said to smell like geranium, citrusy bergamot, and cedar.

The description of the item on the Goop website reads: "This candle started as a joke between perfumer Douglas Little and GP—the two were working on a fragrance, and she blurted out, 'Uhhh..this smells like a vagina' —but evolved into a funny, gorgeous, sexy, and beautifully unexpected scent.

"(That turned out to be perfect as a candle—we did a test run at an In goop Health, and it sold out within hours.)

The candle named 'This Smells Like My Vagina' retails for £57 (Goop / BEEM)

"It's a blend of geranium, citrusy bergamot, and cedar absolutes juxtaposed with Damask rose and ambrette seed that puts us in mind of fantasy, seduction, and a sophisticated warmth."

Gwyneth's lifestyle brand Goop has drawn controversy since its launch in 2008.

It's known for promoting kooky products like vaginal steamers and £33 toilet paper.
