GURUGRAM: Six alleged cow smugglers, including two proclaimed offenders, were arrested for allegedly firing at a group of vigilantes and injuring three of them in August last year.
The accused include Sheru, Saddam, Sher Khan, Iqbal and Balu. In August last year, the accused were transporting cows in a pick-up van when they were chased by some vigilantes in an SUV. They allegedly fired at the chasing SUV, injuring three of its occupants, and sped away.
On Wednesday, the six were arrested from the Old Sohna-Alwar road following a tip-off. The police said they were transporting a few cows to Nuh.
“They were sent to jail after being produced in court. The allegations against them are under investigation,” a police officer said.
An FIR was registered under Section 13(2) (punishment for export of cow for the purpose of slaughter) of The Haryana Gauvansh Sanrakshan and Gausamvardhan Act, 2015, as well as Section 307 (attempt to murder) of the IPC and provisions of the Arms Act.
