Guilt-ridden people wish they hadn't wasted loo rolls decorating Christmas trees

Shoppers can't seem to stop panic-buying toilet paper during the coronavirus outbreak, despite manufacturers reassuring everyone that there isn't a shortage.

As a result many people are struggling to get hold of the stuff, with some having to make their own at home.

And the stockpiling chaos is currently causing others to feel rather guilty about the way they've wasted loo roll in the past.

Mums and dads are currently sharing throwback photos online from last December, when they used toilet paper to decorate their Christmas trees and homes as part of Elf On The Shelf mischief.

One person was full of regret over their actions, admitting it "seemed like a good idea at the time", but now they wished they had the spare paper.

Posting in the Elf On The Shelf 2020 (Helping Parents with ideas) group on Facebook, the man shared a photo of his toilet paper-covered living room.

But he wasn't the only one, hundreds liked his post, with dozens of people commenting to say they had done the same at the time and now felt very guilty about it.

Others had piled 16 toilet rolls up in their shower for Elf On The Shelf, some had completely wrapped up their Christmas trees in the stuff like a mummy and others had used the rolls to make snowmen out of.

"Lmao plz don’t remind me. Lord how I regret it," commented one user.

Another said: "If we only knew."

A third added: "When we took toilet roll for granted."

Someone else asked: "How could we have been so wasteful just three months ago?"

A different user replied: "Never mind all the rolls the dogs have chewed up if they get one now I'll probably cry lol."
