Guess What, Royal Enfield Is Upping Its Flat-Track Ante With the Sherpa Mk 2

Last year, Royal Enfield brought out the FT450, a competition flat-tracker based around the Sherpa engine taken from the new Guerrilla 450. This was the machine developed for use in Enfield's Slide School program, and was developed in the more-than-capable hands of former professional flat track racer and Dirt Craft owner Gary Birtwistle.

But the thing about racers is, they don't stop. They don't know how; well, except maybe after the finish line. And so, with Birtwistle's continuing efforts and ministrations, the new Sherpa FT mk2 is officially participating in the 2026 FIM Flat Track World Championship.

Now, if you've clicked through the link above and are currently looking at the 2026 FIM Flat Track World Championship calendar, you may have noticed one glaring fact: that this 'world championship' only seems to consist of one location outside of Europe, which is Argentina. (It's, um, a small world after all?)

Although the geography covered here might be a bit smaller than you might anticipate, it's still a pretty big deal. Eight countries, two continents, and 10 total rounds of flat track racing is a pretty interesting way to make a splash! Currently, Royal Enfield's other racing activities are national one-make affairs, which sets this effort apart.

What do you think?

If you're wondering where and how to watch, there's both good and bad news to share. The good news is, you can watch the entire series (along with a bunch of other interesting but slightly more obscure international racing series, like TrialGP, WSC Sidecarcross, EWC, Freestyle GP, Ice Speedway Gladiators, and more) either live or on-demand at fim-moto.tv.

The bad news isn't so bad, really, but you do have to create yet another login on yet another website if you want to watch. Still, considering that it's free and doesn't require you to pony up any money to stream, it's not SO bad. There is also an fim-tv app, if you'd rather manage your viewing that way on all your devices. If you've found that you haven't been getting your recommended daily intake (RDI) of motorcycle-related motorsport, this site and/or app is a good way to remedy that sad situation.
