Guardian's McCall resigns from Tesco

Carolyn McCall, chief executive of Guardian Media Group, has stood down as a director of Tesco because of its legal action against The Guardian. As I reported in the London Evening Standard on Wednesday, she realised she would have to leave because of a clear conflict of interest. The supermarket chain is suing the paper and its editor, Alan Rusbridger, for libel and malicious falsehood over articles which claimed that Tesco had avoided paying £1bn in tax by using an offshore structure.
