GTA 6 release date countdown

There’s hardly a gamer on this planet who hasn’t already wishlisted GTA 6. If you’re not one of them, don’t worry—Rockstar’s making sure everyone has plenty of time to get hyped before it finally drops what might be the greatest video game of all time. Sure, it won’t make the wait any easier, but we’ve got a GTA 6 release date countdown so you can tick off the days.

Here’s when GTA 6 is scheduled for release and the exact number of days (and minutes) you’d have to wait.

When will GTA 6 release?

According to Rockstar Games’ latest (Nov. 6) announcement, GTA 6 will now release on Nov. 19, 2026. The exact release times haven’t been revealed yet, but considering it’ll go live at midnight CT, here’s a countdown for it:

GTA VI releases in

This is the second time GTA 6’s release has been delayed—and unfortunately, it may not be the last, given Rockstar’s well-known obsession with delivering near-perfect launches. The publisher has cited the need to polish and perfect the franchise’s 16th installment as the reason behind the latest pushback.

We’ll update our GTA 6 release countdown if there are further changes.

All GTA 6 delays so far

Here’s a timeline of all GTA 6 release date changes so far:

  1. GTA 6 was first announced in February 2022
  2. Initial trailer released in December 2023, and first release window announced: Fall 2025
  3. First delay announced in May 2025: Fall window pushed to May 26, 2026.
  4. [LATEST] Second delay announced in October 2025: Release date pushed to Nov. 19, 2026.

While the delays are certainly disappointing for fans who’ve been waiting over a decade for a new GTA game, Rockstar Games has long been known for its unpredictable release schedules—and for good reason. The studio consistently prioritizes perfection more than most of its competitors.

Take Red Dead Redemption 2’s example. It went through nearly the same kind of delays GTA 6 is facing right now—yet ultimately became one of the most acclaimed story-driven games of all time.

The number of delays, however, doesn’t automatically guarantee perfection: It all depends on how Rockstar uses this extra time to refine GTA 6.
