For more than a year, Rockstar has kept a tight grip on GTA 6 after a series of unprecedented leaks revealed unfinished gameplay from the highly anticipated title long before its official announcement, followed in 2023 by the premature release of its first trailer.
Since then, it’s been crickets — though, according to publisher Take-Two Interactive, the silence is part of its marketing masterplan for a game poised to be one of the biggest releases in gaming and entertainment history.
But now, the dam is about to break, and it seems the walls aren’t as impenetrable as they first seemed.

With just months to go until its autumn release, a massive new GTA 6 leak is on the horizon.
Tom Henderson — known for accurately leaking the PS5 Slim and Pro models and reporting on Ubisoft’s recent troubles — recently teased a “well-researched” story on GTA 6’s online mode during the Insider Gaming podcast. He said the article is set to drop within the next two weeks.
While neither Rockstar nor Take-Two have confirmed if GTA 6 will feature a multiplayer mode, it seems almost certain.
Given that the current GTA Online has been a massive earner, and was eventually spun off as a standalone title, it's hard to imagine the next entry skipping a similar feature.
Earlier this year, Digiday reported that Rockstar has been in talks with top Roblox and Fortnite creators to help shape GTA 6’s online world.
The aim is to bring user-generated content into the game, letting players build their own mini-game-style experiences, expanding on the features that let players create races and missions currently.
It’s a clear move to turn GTA 6 into a creator economy powerhouse, much like Roblox and Fortnite. Players can expect tools to tweak environments and, potentially, a way for players to make money through in-game purchases.
The plan builds on Rockstar’s softer stance toward mods and custom servers — underscored by its 2023 buyout of Cfx.re, the team behind the hugely popular FiveM platform for GTA V.
Henderson also predicted that Take Two could confirm GTA 6’s official release date during its upcoming earnings call on May 15.
This time last year, Take-Two set a massive $8bn (almost £6bn) net bookings target for the fiscal year 2025 (April 1, 2024, to March 31, 2025). Such an ambitious forecast led analysts to speculate that only a major title like GTA 6 could drive that level of revenue.
When Take-Two later confirmed a Fall 2025 release window for GTA 6, the link between the financial target and the game’s launch became even clearer.
If Take-Two’s fiscal guidance for 2026 mirrors this, we can expect the game to drop later this year or by next spring, according to Insider Gaming’s Mike Straw.
However, if the game is delayed, Rockstar is more likely to push it to October or November 2026, as opposed to a spring release, Henderson said. A delay at this stage, he added, would signal “fundamental issues” with its development.
