Rockstar Games has once again delayed the release of Grand Theft Auto VI (GTA 6).
The developer has officially moved the long-awaited launch of GTA 6 from May 26, 2026 to Nov. 19, 2026. It’s another six-month wait added to what already feels like a lifetime for fans raring to dive into the next chapter of the iconic open-world crime saga.
In a statement released on Nov. 6, 2025, Rockstar explained that the delay comes down to quality, saying they want more time to make sure GTA 6 meets the fans’ high standards.
“We are sorry for adding additional time to what we realize has been a long wait, but these extra months will allow us to finish the game with the level of polish you have come to expect and deserve,” Rockstar said.
That sounds like the same reason (or should we say excuse?) Rockstar gave when it first delayed GTA 6 to May 2026. While the studio once again thanked fans for their “continued patience and support,” it’s becoming clear that patience is wearing thin among players.
It’s no surprise that the latest GTA 6 delay has sent the gaming community into an uproar. Fans who’ve been eagerly awaiting a sequel to GTA 5, which launched way back in 2013, are once again met with disappointment.
Popular streamer IShowSpeed captured that collective frustration, reacting with a mix of disbelief, annoyance, and exhausted humor.
Following the disappointing news, expect social media to once again erupt with the long-running joke about things we’ll get before GTA, a meme that’s become almost as iconic as the game itself.
How many times has GTA6 been delayed?
This marks the third delay for GTA 6. When Rockstar dropped the first trailer in December 2023, it teased a 2025 release. The second trailer, released six months ago, later narrowed that to May 2026, before today’s push to November.

While frustrating, this isn’t unusual for Rockstar. Both GTA V and Red Dead Redemption 2 saw multiple delays before launch, and both went on to become critical and commercial juggernauts. If history repeats itself, the wait might just be worth it.
GTA 6 release date and what to expect
Barring any more delays, GTA VI will finally release on November 19, 2026, likely launching first on PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X|S. PC version is expected to follow sometime later, as is tradition with Rockstar releases.
The game will take players to the fictional state of Leonida, a modern reimagining of Florida, with the neon-soaked Vice City as its centerpiece. Fans can expect dual protagonists (Lucia and Jason), a sprawling open world, dynamic weather, and Rockstar’s most detailed environment to date.
