High heels in a puddle of sick and cocktail glass found in "drink driver's" car

A 'drunk driver' who was chased by police was found in a vomit-covered car.

The 22-year-old woman failed to stop for Knowsley Police officers on Tarbock Road in Huyton.

Police followed the car,  a Volkswagon Polo, after receiving reports the vehicle had been seen travelling on the wrong side of the road.

During the pursuit the driver crashed into a kerb on The Rooley, which caused damage to the car and forced it to stop in the middle of the road.

Officers detained the woman who was breathalysed at the scene and was found to be over the drink drive limit.

Pictures taken by police and posted on their Facebook page show the shocking state of the woman's car.

In one grim picture a pair of black high heels can be seen on the backseat which is covered in vomit.

Shockingly another picture shows a drink, with ice and fruit, in the cup holder of one of the doors - although it is not known whether it was alcoholic.

Damage to the wheel of the car, after it crashed into a curb can also be seen, with the tyre bent out of place.

The woman, who is understood to be from the Huyton area, was arrested at the scene and taken into police custody in the early hours of Sunday morning.

It is not known whether the woman was travelling alone or had passengers in the car.

She was arrested on suspicion of drink driving, dangerous driving and failing to stop.
