Grenfell Tower fire: 27-year-old Mariem Elgwahry reported missing in London blaze

The family of a 27-year-old woman missing in the Grenfell Tower fire has appealed for information as to her whereabouts.

Mariem Elgwahry, a senior marketing manager who lived with her mother on the 19th floor of the block, has not been heard from since the early hours of the morning, a family friend told The Independent.

Her mother, Suhar, was also missing.

Family and friends have been searching local hospitals, along with shelters and reception centres set up in the West Kensington area, but have had no news that either is safe.

At least 50 people were being treated across hospitals in the capital after the 24-storey block went up in flames around 1am on Wednesday.

The Metropolitan Police confirmed six people died in the blaze and many residents remain unaccounted for.

If anyone is aware of either woman's whereabouts, please call the Casualty Bureau on 0800 0961 233.
