Imphal: A blast triggered by a grenade created panic at Wangkhei Khunou area of Imphal East district around 7.40 pm on Thursday. No one was injured in the explosion.
A two-wheeler of one Roshan parked at a residential complex was damaged by splinters, locals said. They suspect that those behind the explosion might have targeted Roshan’s neighbour, Haobijam Rajen, who is the owner of a prominent private hospital in the state.
Some unidentified men, who came in a two-wheeler, tossed the grenade at Rajen’s house, but the bomb deflected and exploded at Roshan’s residential complex, the sources said.
Legislature Thangjam Arunkumar representing the Wangkhei seat and police officials led by DGP P Doungel rushed to the spot after the incident.
