Greggs sales and profits soar after introduction of new menu items

  • Greggs reported a significant rise in sales and profits for the first half of 2026, with total sales reaching £1.1 billion for the 26 weeks to 27 June, a 7.2 per cent increase compared to the same period last year.
  • Pre-tax profits for the half-year period jumped by a fifth to £76 million, partly boosted by the successful launch of its 'bake at home' frozen range in Tesco.
  • Innovation across its menu has been a key driver in attracting new customers, including items such as iced matcha lattes and new salad offerings. These cold options were crucial in preventing a sales dip during the recent heatwaves.
  • Greggs opened 34 new shops and anticipates opening between 100 and 110 new locations on a net basis throughout 2026, alongside trials of a 'Greggs Express' format.
  • Greggs reported overall inflation of 2.2 per cent in the first half of the year, with Roisin Currie, Greggs’ chief executive, telling the Press Association : "Our prices are in a good place and we will now be working hard to protect the consumer and making sure that we can offer that value throughout the yest of the year."
