Greggs Newcastle drive-thru first customer gets a chauffeur driven sausage roll car and a brass band

There was a lot of hype around its arrival and the first customer of Greggs' first ever Newcastle drive-thru got the VIP treatment on opening day.

The new and sit-in restaurant at Sandy Lane officially opened for business on Thursday morning and Metro Radio ran a competition for the chance to be its first customer.

After loads of entries, the lucky winner was Becky and as well as getting to be in the first car to pass through the drive-thru, she also won free Greggs goodies for a year...we're not jealous at all!

And Becky didn't just mark the occasion in any old car, as you can see from Metro Radio's video above she placed her order while sitting in the back seat of a chauffeur driven Rolls Royce, adorned, of course, with Greggs' iconic sausage roll!

The drive-thru opened with a fanfare quite literally as a brass band greeted Becky's arrival.

We test out the new Greggs Drive Thru

And she wasn't the only one to get a taste of the action on the drive-thru's opening day. Staff at Biffa in Newcastle got a shed load of Greggs food, delivered to them in the Sausage Rolls Royce.
