Greggs brings back much-loved menu item - and you can get it from today

Greggs has brought back one of its most popular products and it is set to stay for the rest of the year.

From today, March 9, fans will be able to get their hands on the much loved vegetable bake.

The vegetable bake consists of a mix of vegetables, herbs, spices, cheddar cheese and chillies wrapped in pastry.

The veg bake is to cost around £1.80 at most Greggs stores, but prices may vary depending on location.

However, some fans may be disappointed as Greggs said the bake won't be on sale at stores in Scotland or the North East of England.

Greggs vegetable bake is back! (Gregg's vegetable bake is back!)

Customers in these areas will still be able to get Gregg's other meat-free bakes, like its Vegan Sausage, Bean and CheeZe Melt.

The last time the vegetable bake was sold at Greggs was back in August 2022, before it was discontinued - much to customers' dismay.

In the months that followed many took to social media to share their disappointment that the bake had gone and some pleaded with the bakery chain to bring it back.

Last month Twitter user @roisiniebeanie wrote: "Listen, it’s been long enough. Greggs need to bring back the vegetable bake."

Another user @eisfah said: "Greggs need to hurry up and bring back the vegetable bake.@GreggsOfficial you guys are losing so much money from me (which is good, but I want the bake)."

So fans will be happy to hear that veg bake is back.

This week the chain announced its plans to open 150 new stores by the end of this year.

The chain will also be relocating 40 shops to new, larger sites and trial a 24-hour drive thru service at some branches.

Greggs this week told The Mirror it has already opened three sites this year and has eight stores set to open soon.

Stores opened already in 2023:

  • Ulverston drive thru
  • Bristol Gallagher retail park
  • Sittingbourne, Kent drive thru

Stores still to open in 2023:

  • Canary Wharf Station
  • Primark Tasty Café in Newcastle
  • Shepherd’s Bush Station
  • Gatwick Airport South Terminal
  • Glasgow airport
  • Edinburgh Castle Street
  • Spennymoor
  • Cardiff Park House
