Greg Inglis to make Warrington Wolves debut next week

Greg Inglis will finally make his long-awaited Warrington Wolves debut against Hull Kingston Rovers next weekend, Steve Price has revealed.

Inglis is yet to make his Super League bow after signing for the Wolves, with the club opting to take their time with the 34-year-old given how it is two years since his last rugby league appearance.

Price confirmed on Wednesday that Saturday’s game with Catalans will come too soon for Inglis, but then revealed he should be ready in time to face Rovers next Saturday.

“Greg won’t play this week - it’s more than likely the following week against Hull Kingston Rovers,” he said.

“He still has a few more hurdles to overcome, and he’s got a big day coming up later in the week for himself. But we’re confident that he’ll be right for Hull KR the following Saturday.”

Price also paid tribute to assistant coaches Lee Briers and Andrew Henderson after it was confirmed they will leave Warrington along with Price at the end of this season - saying he hopes they can both find roles elsewhere.

“Lee has got the attributes to be a really good coach somewhere,” Price said of Briers, who will end a 25-year association with the Wolves at the end of the season.

“He’s given great service to our rugby league club, and hopefully Hendo can find a gig somewhere too because he’s a wonderful young coach, and he’s got a lot of things going for him. I’m confident they won’t be lost to the game, because they’re terrific men.”
