Green Bay Packers star has Jordan Love belief after Aaron Rodgers announcement

Following Aaron Rodgers ' announcement on the Pat McAfee Show on Wednesday, it seems as though he will be trading to the New York Jets, leaving Jordan Love as the new Green Bay Packers starting quarterback.

During the discussion live on air, Rodgers said: "They want to move on. And now, so do I." Rodgers then stated it was his intention to play for the Jets in 2023, and added: "They don't want me to come back. They want to move on with Jordan."

Love was drafted in the first-round by the Packers back in 2020, but unsurprisingly hasn't been given many opportunities due to Rodgers being at the franchise. But he will finally get his chance in 2023, and running-back Aaron Jones is already confident he will shine.

In a period of transition for the Packers, it's going to take some getting used to for those remaining at the franchise. Davante Adams was a huge miss last season, but now the Packers are set to be without Rodgers for the first time since 2005.

Wide receiver Allen Lazard has also departed, as he too is heading to the Jets for the 2023 season. Jones is one of the players that committed his future to the Packers, and he's excited to kick-off the new season with Love at quarterback.

Speaking live on SiriusXM NFL Radio, Jones was asked about how Love has grown since being drafted, and the running-back gave a very confident response. "Jordan Love has to step in, he's more than ready," Jones said.

"Jordan’s made a huge jump, especially this past year, you could see it in practice, he was throwing dimes, doing different things. You can tell you got that confidence, and you’re just letting it loose now. And you know, he got in a game a little bit this past year, and when he did he played well. So I think he’s gonna show that he can do this at a high level."

Jones isn't the only one to back Love, as Rodgers himself hailed the young quarterback when stating he wants to play for the Jets next season. "Jordan's going to be a great player," Rodgers said on the Pat McAfee Show.

"He's a f****** great kid, he had a really good year this year, he's getting better. He's got a bright future in front of him. They've got a bright young team."
