Grangemouth community lunch club reopens following covid closure

A community hall serving lunches for the elderly has re-opened after a few weeks off because of coronavirus restrictions.

Talbot House on Talbot Street in Grangemouth provides isolated locals with somewhere to go to socialise and enjoy a meal with others twice a week.

It also provides other services such as hairdressing, in a warm and sociable setting.

But the facility closed last month amid tighter Scottish Government Covid rules introduced to curb the rise of the Omicron variant.

However, Talbot House has now reopened as of Tuesday, February 1, and will continue to run on Tuesdays and Thursdays from now on.

In a statement posted on social media, Talbot House staff said: "We are open for business as usual with lunch clubs and all other community activities.

"Community Care have also organised the transport buses for that day so we all look forward to seeing our regular lunch club users, and of course welcome any newcomers.

"Our Hairdresser and Chiropody facilities also look forward to seeing their regular customers, as well as any new ones.

"We will continue with our sensible Covid precautions as used previously."
