Graham Potter responds to new-found Chelsea fame: ‘People say I’ve glown up... even my boy!’

Graham Potter has admitted to going out less and noticing the intrigue around his fashion and image since joining Chelsea.

At Brighton and during his prior roles with Ostersunds and Swansea, the 47-year-old had not been analysed in such minute detail. However, now at one of the world’s biggest clubs, the Blues boss is learning what it is like to be a real celebrity.

“Even my 12-year-old boy said you’ve had a glow up daddy,” Potter said at a relaxed press conference at Cobham on Friday.

Part of the intrigue is around his roll neck jumper, but Potter insists he hasn’t made a special sartorial effort since joining from Brighton for a £20million compensation package last month.

“I used to wear the polo neck,” he said. “It is not a new jumper! If you check back and I know this is not investigative journalism, I think we beat Tottenham 1-0 with that jumper so maybe it is a lucky jumper? I don’t know.

“[People say I look like the] Milk Tray Man? Is he the one that climbed through the windows? [Maybe] I am growing into my face like fine wine.”

The one thing Potter has changed is his hair, getting it cut at a high-end barbers used by his players: “It cost a lot more than I thought it was going to.

“I have had a haircut from somebody that cuts the lads’ hair. So probably that has made a difference, I don’t know.”
