Graham Norton won't drink during Eurovision 2022 until certain country is performing

Graham Norton revealed he will be withholding from drinking until song number nine is performed during the Eurovision Song Contest final.

The TV presenter is the UK's commentator for the yearly competition and always brings laughter and joy to viewers at home.

However, for those unaware, Graham has been following tradition where he only starts drinking when whichever country is performing song number nine appears on stage.

It became a tradition to raise a glass to Sir Terry Wogan during the ninth song of Eurovision, following his death in 2016.

He was the commentator on the popular competition from 1971 to 2008. A year later, Graham took over.

Speaking about if he has any traditions for this year's competition, Graham explained: "Not really.

"I make sure I've been to the toilet and only start drinking at song number nine as Sir Terry decreed."

Graham started the tradition in 2016 when Sir Terry died, at the competition that year in Stockholm.

"For those who aren’t aware song number nine is famous because Sir Terry always warned me not to have anything to drink until that point," he said.

"During song number nine this year the host country Sweden will be performing and I will be encouraging everyone to raise a glass.
