Graeme Souness makes Manchester United transfer claim over Leicester City's Jonny Evans

Graeme Souness says Jonny Evans would walk into Manchester United's current team.

The centre-back departed boyhood club United in 2015 to move to West Brom and his performances for the Baggies earned him a 2018 move to Leicester City.

His form has continued at the Foxes and he has been a key performer under Brendan Rodgers at the King Power Stadium.

Souness says United likely regret selling the Northern Ireland international and that he would solve a lot of the Reds' problems.

Speaking on Sky Sports, Souness revealed he was a big fan of Evans and that he is exactly the sort of player United could do with.

He said: “I’m a big fan of his. You look at Man United’s problems at the back right now, they would have him in their team right now.

"He’s good on the ball, he’s quick, he reads it, he’s got that experience now - being that age - he’s just an all-round good centre-half.

"He’d walk into the current Man United team."

Evans has already been linked with a move away from Leicester this summer.

The 32-year-old has just a year left on his contract at the Foxes, which led to Leicester targeting a centre-back this summer due to fears Evans may leave.

A number of Premier League clubs were credited with an interest in Evans due to his contract situation.

Whilst he remains at Leicester, he is yet to sign a new deal, meaning there remain question marks over his future.
