Government update on when social welfare and PUP recipients will get Christmas Bonus

Social Welfare and PUP recipients will receive their Christmas Bonus throughout early December.

The bonus for the majority of those on the PUP and other people on social welfare was confirmed in the Budget earlier this month.

And the Department of Social Protection has said that all payments will be made in early December - but the exact dates will differ.

A spokesperson said: "As part of Budget 2021, Minister Humphreys announced the 2020 Christmas Bonus will be paid this year at a rate of 100% in early December.

"As Social Welfare schemes have different pay dates, the actual dates of payment will differ for customers depending on the payment they are receiving. The Department will confirm the actual payment dates closer to the time."

On Monday night it was also revealed the Pandemic Unemployment Payment would rise again for many.

The PUP will rise to €350 per week for those previously earning €400 or higher a week.

People who earned between €300 and €400 will now receive €300 every week, while those earing between €200 and €300 will get €250.

Anyone who was paid less than €200 will now be in receipt of €203.
