Gotham Town DJ to throw a massive 'Farewell Gotham' party in Newcastle

The reaction to the news that Gotham Town has closed its doors for a final time has been nothing short of huge, with many Geordie revellers lamenting the end of an era.

But before you all start wearing black in mourning for the closure of the city centre trebles den and popular pre and post gig calling point, dry your eyes as one last party will be held in its honour.

Drinks in the Neville Street bar were practically a rite of passage for anyone living, working or studying in the city, so there was great upset when we revealed on Thursday morning that it was to be no more.

Reacting to RIP Gotham Town: £3 trebles are no more as beloved Newcastle bar shuts , someone commented "honestly... I’m f****** raging," while not quite as expletive filled, someone else wrote "Nooooooooo devastated best bar in Newcastle music wise!"

The overwhelming theme to the comments was many people's memories (some very hazy!) about nights in Gotham with friends, uni mates or colleagues.

So we're sure there is going to be big demand for tickets for the Farewell Gotham party on Friday, April 5.

10 pubs and clubs in Newcastle that we’d love to come back

Obviously, with Gotham now being looked at for another venture, the event won't take there, instead it will be at Riverside down on the Quayside and is the brain child of Gotham DJ Dean Paul Walton.

Tickets are on sale now online from Ticketline, priced £4. And such is the expected popularity of the night, that they are being limited to 8 per person.

The party is for 18+ only.
