My dishwasher developed a leak at the beginning of June and repair firm Marchwood sent a technician who fixed the problem but discovered a more serious issue.
The dishwasher no longer worked and I was told it would take up to six weeks for the new part to arrive. A month later the part was fitted but, in the process, another part was damaged and the machine was left disconnected for a further month. More technicians arrived in August and declared the dishwasher broken. Five days later, I was told that no further works would proceed until I paid for the first replacement part, although I had been assured I didn’t have to make payment until the machine was working again.
In September, I threatened legal action and a technician arrived … with the wrong part. Since then I’ve heard nothing. I’m happy to pay – when the dishwasher is working. PM, Farnborough, Hampshire
Marchwood says the repair should have taken a week, not three months, and blames the delay on sourcing parts from Miele. “Having multiple faults, and only being able to source the parts from one supplier, there was not much we could do to speed up this process,” says a spokesperson.
On 1 October, nearly four months since you first called, the machine was finally working, and you’ve been told that all call-out charges will be waived.
