Gorka Marquez's Strictly result reaction clocked by fans as he fails to hide disappointment

Gorka Marquez had disappointed etched all over his face, as he and Helen Skelton were defeated in the Strictly Come Dancing final on Saturday night.

Helen and Gorka were second favourites with the bookies going into the live final and many Strictly fans’ pick for champions, after watching their partnership flourish over the last few months.

As well as lighting up the ballroom with all manner of routines, the pair have friend a close friendship off screen, with Gorka being a huge source of support for Helen as she three herself into her Strictly experience, after a tough start to the year, which saw her split from husband Richie Myler, just months after the birth of their youngest child.

Helen and Gorka performed a jive, show dance and their Cabaret themed Couple’s Choice and ended the night in second place on the leaderboard, after scoring a total of 116 out of 120, including their first and only perfect 40 of the series for their Couple’s Choice dance.

In the immediate aftermath of the performance, judge Craig Revel Horwood said it was a dance worthy of a Strictly win, but, unfortunately it wasn’t to be for Helen and Gorka and it was instead Hamza and Jowita who became the latest Strictly champions. All four couples lined up as Tess Daly announced the results and as the camera cut to Gorka he looked visibly disappointed.

And it didn’t take long for viewers at home to react to the tell tale moment. One tweeted: “Aww Gorka looks genuinely gutted. He deserved to win, as a pro who hadn’t yet,” with another reacting: “Oh poor Gorka, he really didn’t work on his gracious loser face”

A third posted: “Gorka was livid when they won. His face said it all. Hamza is a great guy dont get me wrong but he was voted as the winner because of that. Not his dancing."
