Gordon Strachan 'facing axe' from Sky over controversial Adam Johnson comments

Gordon Strachan is facing a sweat over his Sky Sports future after comments he made about convicted sex offender Adam Johnson.

The former Celtic and Scotland boss will meet with the broadcaster after he appeared to compare the shamed former Sunderland star with black players who suffer racial abuse.

Strachan's comments on The Debate have caused a social media storm and Kick it Out chief Troy Townsend, father of Andros, slammed the veteran boss, along with Leroy Lita.

The 62-year-old said on the show: "If he goes on to the pitch and people start calling him names, have we got to do the same as it is to the racist situation? Is it all right to call him names now after doing his three years - have we got to allow that to happen?'

Sky responded to growing criticism surrounding the incident which took place last week, report the Daily Mail .

They said: "Of course Sky Sports does not support the comments and we're sorry for the offence they have caused."

Strachan's comparison comes after a week when Juventus striker Moise Kean faced-up his tormentors after he was taunted with racial abuse against Cagliari.

Danny Rose also revealed he can't wait to quit football over abuse he, and other black players, have suffered during their careers.
