Gordon Ramsay ‘set to bring back Hell’s Kitchen in UK and open restaurants under TV brand’

Gordon Ramsay could be about to revive his fiery TV hit Hell’s Kitchen next year — while also preparing to launch restaurants in the UK under the same name.

Insiders say the celebrity chef is expected to return as the sweary head chef of the cookery contest, which first aired in Britain in 2004. Ramsay went on to launch a US version the following year, which has become a huge success over the past 20 years, spawning an international brand and a chain of Hell’s Kitchen restaurants in America.

The 58-year-old has now trademarked the Hell’s Kitchen name in the UK, paving the way for restaurants to open alongside the show’s planned reboot on ITV.

A TV insider told The Sun: “Fans of the show will be doubly thrilled by the prospect of the competition coming back and being able to dine in a Hell’s Kitchen restaurant over here.

“Business-savvy Gordon has watched as the popularity of Hell’s Kitchen in the US has helped bring in thousands of customers to his restaurants. The programme is broadcast in more than 100 countries around the world so between tourists visiting Britain and developing a whole new audience for the telly contest in the UK, it’s an incredibly smart move on his part.”

ITV bosses reportedly entered talks with Ramsay’s team last year about reviving the series. He only hosted one UK season, but it remains memorable for his trademark put-downs and clashes with celebrity contestants.

Among them was Coronation Street star Amanda Barrie, now 89, who famously tried to hit Ramsay in the face during a heated row. The chef had to block her attempts as she lost her temper.

Ramsay launched the US version in 2005, where it became a ratings smash and cemented his global reputation. In 2018 he opened the first Hell’s Kitchen restaurant in Las Vegas, serving dishes such as beef wellington and sticky toffee pudding.

There are now seven Hell’s Kitchen restaurants across the US, including locations in Las Vegas, Miami, California and Washington DC.
