Gordon Hayward cleared to play for Celtics against Bulls

After missing the first game coming out of the All-Star break, Gordon Hayward has been reactivated for the Boston Celtics to play in Saturday night’s game against the Chicago Bulls. Hayward missed Boston’s matchup in Milwaukee after tweaking his right ankle while practicing with Semi Ojeleye over the break. Hayward missed all of last season after tweaking his left leg, so this was something new for him, relative to the Celtics. Brad Stevens first mentioned the injury on Wednesday and stated from the start he expected it to be a short-term concern.

Prior to Hayward being reactivated, the Celtics sent RJ Hunter back to their G League affiliate, the Maine Red Claws. Hunter was up for just the one game against the Milwaukee Bucks with Hayward sidelined, though Hunter did not see the court in Boston’s 98-97 loss on Thursday.
