Gordon Elliott to cooperate with social media photo investigation

Decorated Irish racehorse trainer Gordon Elliott says he will cooperate with an investigation into a photo circulating on social media.

In the picture a man appears to be sitting on top of a dead horse.

A statement from the Irish Horseracing Regulatory Board read: "The Irish Horseracing Regulatory Board are aware of an image circulating on social media and the matter is under investigation."

Leading trainer Elliott has had 147 winners this season and is preparing a star-studded team for the Cheltenham Festival next month.

He has said that he will help the IHRB inquiry into the photograph.

"I'm aware of a photo in circulation on social media," he posted on Twitter.

"The IHRB (Irish Horseracing Regulatory Board) have been in contact with me regarding this photo and I will be cooperating fully with their investigation."

Speaking on Sunday lunchtime, Press Association reports that an IHRB spokesman said: “The investigation is under way, and it will be dealt with as quickly as possible.”

The image appears to show the man making a peace gesture while sitting on a dead horse, with the caption 'new work rider this morning' on the photo.
