Google's Pixel 9 Pro could be your best bet for a powerful new Android phone this Black Friday

Google Pixel 9 Pro.

November is almost here, and tech fans across the world are likely gearing up for Black Friday deals. Though Black Friday isn’t until November 28, we’re likely to see some great deals in the run up to the day itself, including some serious discounts on the best Android phones.

Though I’m personally keeping a close eye on the OnePlus 13R as the likely best phone deal of Black Friday 2025, there’s another contender that should rightfully hold your attention if you’re in the market for a new Android handset.

Based on previous years’ sales, I think the Google Pixel 9 Pro is likely to see significant discounts at third party retailers across Black Friday and Cyber Monday 2025.

For example, last year we saw the then-previous-generation Google Pixel 8 Pro discounted by up to £430 at UK retailer Currys, while 2023 saw a carrier-locked Google Pixel 7 Pro at just $299.

Previous-generation Google Pixel models are common targets for discounts, as retailers jump on the opportunity to move older stock with great deals. And since Google Pixel phones typically rank amongst the leading Android phones, and even the best phones, on the market, a model from one or two years ago still feels snappy for daily use.

The Pixel 9 Pro has a 6.3-inch the Google Tensor G4 chipset, a full 16GB of RAM, and starts with 128GB of storage. It’s also full to the brim with helpful AI tools and smart software features, most of which come to Pixel phones first thanks to Google prioritisation of its own platform for Android software updates.

There's also the Google Pixel 9 Pro XL to keep an eye on, which sports a bigger 6.8-inch screen but higher price tag.

The Google Pixel 10 Pro, released this year, was perhaps the most incremental Google Pixel upgrade in recent memory. Though the Pixel 10 Pro has a faster chipset and support for the Pixel Snap ecosystem of magnetic accessories, the Pixel 9 Pro packs almost as much hardware power, with very similar display, camera, battery, and design specs.

It’s not impossible that the Google Pixel 10 Pro would be discounted for Black Friday, but because the Pixel 9 Pro is now a year old, it’s much more likely to see significant discounts during this year’s Black Friday sales.

I can’t see any big deals for the Pixel 9 Pro out there yet, but Google has reduced the starting price of this powerful phone from $999 / £999 to $899 / £899 (the price has stayed the same at $1,699 in Australia)

The Pixel 9 Pro XL, in comparison, has been knocked down from $1,099 / £1,099 to $999 / £999, remaining at its original price of $1,849 in Australia (sorry Aussies!)

No matter where you are, though, I think it’s worth waiting for Black Friday to see whether Google's Pixel 9 Pro goes on sale before purchasing – I think it seems very likely. Let us know your thoughts in the comments.
