Goodison Park cat: Merseyside moggy invades pitch during Everton vs Wolves

Everton were plagued by a pack of Wolves and one cat at Goodison Park on Saturday, with a stray feline adding insult to injury for the Toffees.

Moments after Leander Dendoncker put Wolves 3-1 up against Everton, a Merseyside moggy made its way onto the Goodison Park pitch.

The football-loving feline caused a three to four-minute delay during the second half of the Premier League match, with the cat making its way from one penalty area to another - just the sort of movement Marco Silva might have expected from his struggling side.

Stewards were unsuccessful in chasing the cat on the pitch, but the animal eventually found its way off through a crowd of police offers and stewards.

Wolves took an early lead, courtesy of a penalty from Ruben Neves after seven minutes. Home defender Baines brought down Matt Doherty and Neves sent Jordan Pickford the wrong way from the spot.

Everton were back on level terms when Andre Gomes netted after 27 minutes, but Wolves were back in front thanks to Raul Jimenez who headed in from a free-kick as half-time approached.

Wolves extended their lead to 3-1 with 66 minutes gone as Leander Dendoncker found the target before the cat's entrance.
